Social Impact of Our Work

Impactful Reward for better Livelihoods for All!

q2-2 (1)
The social Impact of our business focuses on addressing the social problems of Poverty, Unemployment and Environmental Degradation in Uganda.

Poverty

Poverty entails more than the lack of income and productive resources to ensure sustainable livelihoods. Poverty manifestations include hunger and malnutrition, limited access to education and other basic services, social discrimination and exclusion as well as the lack of participation in decision-making. Poverty is linked with negative conditions such as substandard housing, homelessness, inadequate nutrition and food insecurity, inadequate child care, lack of access to health care, unsafe neighborhoods, and under resourced schools which adversely impact our nation’s children.

Environmental Degradation

People, society, and environment are interrelated and over depletion of natural resources results in environmental degradation, reducing the effectiveness of essential ecosystem services. This leads to increased risk from disasters, and in turn, natural hazards can further degrade the environment. Consequences may include increased poverty, famine, weather extremes, species loss, acute and chronic medical illnesses.

Unemployment

The personal and social costs of unemployment include severe financial hardship and poverty, homelessness and housing stress, family tensions and breakdown, idleness alienation, shame and stigma, increased social isolation, crime, erosion of confidence and self-esteem and ill-health among others. Communities with high unemployment rates are more likely to have limited employment opportunities, low-quality housing and underfunded schools.

We have for the passed five years work with a number of farmers and rural communities that have result in improved livelihoods and Poverty reduction among 142 households with 864 family members, 142 jobs created across the supply chain (75 women, 55 youth & 12 men), 15000+ tree seedlings distributed and planted by beekeepers and community 20000+ people reached through environmental conservation awareness campaigns
