Our Approach

Tropical Honey apply holistic innovation approach of integrating beekeeping with fruit growing and agro-forestry to provide honey bees with multiple forage for honey production and climate change mitigation Uganda.

Tropical Honey innovation approach is establishment of modern apiaries integrated with growing of passion fruits, banana, cassava and fruits like mangoes, avocados, oranges, limes, guavas, pawpaw, shea trees, osmium, and cashew nuts to increase honey production. The modern apiaries act as learning centers in skilling youth, women, and other small holder bee farmers in modern beekeeping practice in Northern Uganda. The fruits will further boost the forage (pollens and nectars) for the honeybees, increasing honey production and productivity to meet the market demand and improving the livelihoods of the rural communities.

Tropical Honey also work with out-growers (beekeepers) mostly women, youth and persons with disability to improve on the production and productivity in the honey supply chain. Tropical honey provide training and technical support to set up suitable apiaries for quality honey production. Equally, women and youth out-growers are supplied with manufactured modern hives and necessary equipment for high quality honey production and harvest. Tropical Honey then provides beekeepers with potential honey market by buying their bee products at fair guaranteed prices, adding value, marketing and selling the honey products to urban consumers.
